News from the HOSPITAL

I'm currently recovering from a hip replacement in the Douglas County Hospital, Alexandria. The surgery went well though I'm still suffering from considerable pain resulting from the surgery. The plan to to get out on Christmas day but we'll see.

I should be able to get back to piano tuning in several weeks. Web design work can resume as soon as I get home. I appologize to those of you who have had to wait. Life has been very hectic.

Brian's colorful NEW cast

I went with Brian to the Dr. today and watched as a new cast was put on. This one makes his foot officially at 90 degrees. We're hoping that at the Jan 6th appointment he will be given a walking boot so he can start therapy to learn how to walk again with his left foot. The foot looks good. The cast is ugly but who says "cast technician" are artists.

Brian's latest surgery - GOOD NEWS

Our son Brian, who has a motorcycle accident 3 1/2 years ago, has not had good news lately concerning his left foot ... until now. He has recently been referred to a new Dr. at Fairview Hospital. He diagnosed his ankle as "frozen" due to scar tissue and other physical conditions leaving his left his left ankle unable to move.

He had surgery on Nov 12 to free up the ankle and get it back to a 90 degree angle. The goal is walking with a NORMAL WALKING MOTION. He still has to go through significant therapy but we're thrilled for him to be at this point.

High School Musical, Beauty and the Beast

I recently attended the Willmar High School's production of Beauty and the Beast. I was very well done. The set, costumes, stage crew, orchestra, sound technicians, directors, and cast can be very proud of their efforts.

We are spending the weekend at Brian's helping with their 2 kids, Bode and Haley. Since it is Oct 31 we got to see them in their costumes.

Costello buys a Computer

Costello calls to buy a computer from Abbott

Abbott: Super Duper computer store. Can I help you?

Costello: Thanks. I'm setting up an office in my den and I'm thinking about buying a computer.

Abbott: Mac?

Costello: No, the name's Lou.

Abbott: Your computer?

Costello: I don't own a computer. I want to buy one.

Abbott: Mac?

Costello: I told you, my name's Lou.

Abbott: What about Windows?

Costello: Why? Will it get stuffy in here?

Abbott: Do you want a computer with Windows?

Costello: I don't know. What will I see when I look at the windows?

Abbott: Wallpaper.

Costello: Never mind the windows. I need a computer and software.

Abbott: Software for Windows?

Costello: No. On the computer! I need something I can use to write proposals, track expenses and run my business. What do you have?

Abbott: Office.

Costello: Yeah, for my office. Can you recommend anything?

Abbott: I just did.

Costello: You just did what?

Abbott: Recommend something.

Costello: You recommended something?

Abbott: Yes.

Costello: For my office?

Abbott: Yes

Costello: OK, what did you recommend for my office?

Abbott: Office.

Costello: Yes, for my office!

Abbott: I recommend Office with Window's.

Costello: I already have an office with windows! OK, let's just say I'm sitting at my computer and I want to type a proposal. What do I need?

Abbott: Word.

Costello: What word?

Abbott: Word in Office.

Costello: The only word in office is office.

Abbott: The Word in Office for Windows.

Costello: Which word in office for windows?

Abbott: The Word you get when you click the blue 'W'.

Costello: I'm going to click your blue 'W' if you don't start with some straight answers. What about financial bookkeeping? You have anything I can track my money with?

Abbott: Money.

Costello: That's right. What do you have?

Abbott: Money.

Costello: I need money to track my money?

Abbott: It comes bundled with your computer.

Costello: What's bundled with my computer?

Abbott: Money.

Costello: Money comes with my computer?

Abbott: Yes. No extra charge.

Costello: I get a bundle of money with my computer? How much?

Abbott: One copy.

Costello: Isn't it illegal to copy money?

Abbott: Microsoft gave us a license to copy Money.

Costello: They can give you a license to copy money?

Abbott: Why not? THEY OWN IT!

(A few days later) ...

Abbott: Super Duper computer store. Can I help you?

Costello: How do I turn my new computer off?

Abbott: Click on 'START'

Mill Pond Jazz Orchestra tonight

The Mill Pond Jazz Orchestra will be playing tonight in Litchfield at Zion Lutheran Church. The Orchestra is a 16 piece adult big band which plays songs from the big band era as well as christian hymns arranged in big band style. At Christmas time we have some arrangements of traditional Christmas carols arranged in big band style.

I'm trying again

I hope this time around I can keep up better with this blog. I always encourage others to do so. I figured I better practice what I teach.

I'll include posts about piano technology, photography, and web design. As I've grown older these are the 3 main directions I have chosen. i hope those of you who stumble on this blog find something of interest.
